Dr. Boni Khalwale's tweet praising his relationship with Deputy President William Ruto has backfired, with Kenyans on Twitter mercilessly roasting him.
On September 25, 2019, Khalwale tweeted, 'They thought and wished that it could be a simple case worthy of dismissal with Sugoi dish washer, Turncoat, Luhyia sell out and Ruto’s boot licker. But alas, and we thank u Lord. It has blossomed into a national hustler movement!'
However, his tweet was met with a barrage of criticism, with many Kenyans accusing him of being a 'political beggar' and a 'certified begger' who is only interested in feeding his family through Ruto's patronage.
'Imagine Ruto doesn’t talk about you this much, the way you breathe, eat, drink, and dream about him. You’re an adult with a family, find a decent job and get busy,' one Twitter user, @_fels1, said.
Another user, @BelAkinyii, added, 'For once you’ve tweeted something sensible by perfectly describing yourself in those pointers. Lamba kabisa babu, bills must be paid.'
Some users even questioned Khalwale's mental health, with one user, @MburuMburu5, suggesting that he talk to friends who specialize in mental health.
As the backlash continued, Khalwale's tweet was flooded with comments from Kenyans who were not afraid to speak their minds.
One user, @KileluVincent, said, 'National hustler movement??? Time will tell. Why are you not roaming in mombasa, ukambani, Kissi, Luo nyanza, Nairobi…wait for kibera to teach you a lesson.'
Another user, @nellobando, added, 'Njaa ni mbaya,it’s good now you can feed your family bila stress but 2022 Governor utaonea Viusasa.'
As the dust settles, it remains to be seen how Khalwale will respond to the backlash.
