Published on September 25, 2019, Tottenham Hotspur's EFL Cup elimination at the hands of Colchester United has left fans fuming, with many turning their anger on Victor Wanyama.

Wanyama, who has been facing an uncertain future at Spurs, was handed full minutes in the match, but his performance left fans unimpressed.

According to reports, Christian Eriksen and Lucas Moura both missed from the spot as Colchester marched to a 4-3 win in the penalty shootout.

Wanyama's appearance at Colchester Community Stadium was his second for the Lily Whites this season, with the first coming in the club's 2-1 defeat to Leicester.

One fan posted on social media, 'What else is there to say about that performance against Colchester tonight? It was just embarrassing, it seems like Poch can't motivate the players anymore, Wanyama looked lost again.'

Another fan noted, 'I'd honestly drop Eriksen & Wanyama, out of all Matchday squads until January. Let them both rot in the u23's.'

A third fan said, 'Wanyama even looks out of his depth vs League two opposition. It makes Poch's decision on to bring him on for 25+ minutes on Saturday even more puzzling.'

While a fourth fan concluded, 'Wanyama is well and truly finished, needs to be sold ASAP.'
