Swiss international Granit Xhaka, the captain of the Switzerland national team, has been ruled out of a friendly match against Greece after testing positive for COVID-19 on the day of the game.

According to a spokesperson for the national team, Xhaka, 28, was not vaccinated.

AS Roma manager Jose Mourinho, who has been linked to Xhaka in the past, took to Instagram to comment on the situation, urging Xhaka to get vaccinated.

"Get the jab Granit and be safe," Mourinho wrote in a comment on a post.

Xhaka's positive test comes as the Switzerland team prepares to face European champions Italy in a World Cup qualifier on Sunday.
