Published on September 25, 2019, Paul Merson, a former Arsenal star, has expressed his confidence in Frank Lampard's ability to lead Chelsea to a top four finish in the Premier League this season.
Despite Chelsea's struggles so far, with the team sitting 11th on the log after six matches, Merson believes the Europa League champions have the potential to finish in the top four.
Chelsea's recent 2-1 defeat to Liverpool at Stamford Bridge has raised concerns about the team's performance, but Merson remains optimistic about their chances.
"People know I'm a Chelsea fan, and I was pleased with their performance on Sunday – not the result, but there's a lot of positives to come out of that game," Merson told Sky Sports.
"Look at Chelsea now and you think they could get in the top four. They've given a lot of people heart, and it'll give Frank heart," he added.
