Published on September 25, 2019, the British High Commission in Nairobi has listed three funeral homes in Kenya that cater to the needs of British nationals.
The Commission's 2018 document highlights the importance of communication in times of grief, recommending funeral homes with English-speaking staff to ensure that British nationals receive the respect and care they deserve.
Preferred Funeral Homes ¶
The Commission recommends Lee Funeral Home in Nairobi, Tonny Funeral Services in Mombasa, and Janam Funeral Services in Mombasa.
Lee Funeral Home stands out for its comprehensive services, including collection of remains, post-mortem facilities, embalming, preparation of remains, funeral hearse services, coffins, repatriation of human remains, cremation of human remains, burial of human remains, exhumation of human remains, and funeral counselling.
Additionally, Lee Funeral Home has experience representing British nationals, with staff speaking English, Swahili, French, Dutch (Flemish), and basic German.
While the Commission does not explain the reason for recommending Tonny Funeral Services and Janam Funeral Services, it is likely due to their staff's proficiency in the Queen's language and their ability to provide services locally and internationally.
Janam Funeral Services, in particular, offers local cremation, local burial, repatriation, airlifting, and road transportation, making it a convenient option for British nationals.
The Commission emphasizes that their recommendations are not endorsements and that individuals should exercise their own judgment when choosing a funeral home.
