On September 23, 2019, a devastating incident occurred at Precious Talent School on Ngong Road in Nairobi, claiming the lives of at least seven pupils and injuring over 50 others.

The tragedy unfolded when a two-storey building housing classrooms collapsed at around 6:50 am, trapping learners inside.

Government spokesperson Colonel Cyrus Oguna confirmed the fatalities and injuries, stating that 57 students were rushed to Kenyatta National Referral Hospital for treatment.

"57 students have been taken to hospital for treatment and we can also confirm that there have been seven fatalities," Oguna said. "This is a private school, but the government is going to ensure the injured pupils receive medical treatment."

Col. Oguna assured the public of the government's support, adding that Education Cabinet Secretary Prof. George Magoha would issue a comprehensive statement on the incident later.

Investigations into the cause of the collapse are ongoing, with the school management yet to confirm the number of learners in class at the time of the incident.
