MCAs of ODM Switch Sides, Endorse Imran Okoth for Kibra Parliamentary Seat ¶
MCAs of ODM in Nairobi County, who were initially against Imran Okoth, have switched sides and endorsed him for the Kibra parliamentary seat. The MCAs, led by Elias Otieno, a minority leader in the County Assembly, made the decision after meeting with Imran Okoth.
According to Otieno, the MCAs have changed their stance and will now support Imran Okoth, who was nominated by ODM leader Raila Odinga. Otieno stated, 'He knows he can win the seat, so let's not be deceived by the video circulating online, as he has the confidence to win.'
On the other hand, Peter Imwatok, a supporter of Imran Okoth, expressed his confidence in the candidate's ability to win the seat. Imwatok stated, 'Kibra is the stronghold of ODM, we have our candidate here, and we will support him, so anyone who doesn't have confidence in our candidate should not expect to win.'
Imran Okoth, the ODM candidate, expressed his gratitude to the MCAs for their support. He stated, 'The meaningful thing is to win the Kibra seat and showcase how we will work together during this campaign period.'
The Kibra parliamentary seat was declared vacant by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) following the death of the former MP, Ken Okoth.
