On Thursday, August 5, a traffic police officer attached to Langata police station prevented a potentially deadly outcome when she intervened to save Zachary Kingori, a police officer attached to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and his passenger from a mob of angry bodaboda operators.

The incident occurred in the evening when Kingori's vehicle knocked down two pedestrians near Sunshine School on Langata Road. The pedestrians suffered multiple injuries and were rushed to Kenyatta National Hospital in serious condition by a good samaritan.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the heroic traffic police officer was on duty along Langata Road when she noticed Kingori's vehicle speeding on the wrong lane of the road. She immediately sped off in the police patrol vehicle and followed the car from behind.

Upon reaching Langata Barracks, the officer found Kingori's vehicle cornered, and the driver being subjected to a beating by the mob. She intervened and saved Kingori and his lady passenger from the angry crowd, despite the driver suffering minor bruises on the lips and arms.

The officer then escorted Kingori and his passenger to the station, where he was identified as Mr. Zackary King'ori Mwangi, a Senior Assistant Inspector General (S/AIG) attached to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

It was later established that Kingori was using the wrong side of the road due to a traffic jam between Sunshine School and Carnivore Junction when the accident occurred.
