On the eve of Wednesday morning, a family of five was left shattered after a house fire ravaged their home in Molo Hill, Subukia, Nakuru county.
The fire, whose cause is yet to be determined, broke out around 6:00 am, leaving behind a trail of destruction and heartbreak.
Nakuru County Police Commander Beatrice Kiraguri confirmed the tragic incident, stating that the four family members did not survive the fire.
According to Kiraguri, the incident occurred shortly after two of the children, both in forms two and three, left for school. The two other children, who are in classes five and six, were the ones who noticed the fire and attempted to alert their mother, but it was too late.
‘We woke up to sad news of a family that has perished in a fire incident in Molo hill area, a mother with her three children aged one, three, and six years,’ Said Kiraguri.
Residents suspect that the fire might have been caused by a lamp, but investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause.
Area MP Samuel Gachobe has pledged to construct a temporary house for the remaining family members and has urged residents not to speculate until the investigation results are out.
The bodies of the four family members were taken to the Nakuru municipality mortuary.
