Police in Gilgil are holding a 47-year-old pastor on suspicion of killing his wife, whose body was found in their home.

The couple's argument on the night of her death was reportedly sparked by the wife's decision to move her clinic to Kongasis trading centre, a more populated area.

According to sources close to the investigation, the pastor was having an affair with a woman at the trading centre and feared being exposed if his wife worked nearby.

The victim's brother confirmed that she was a trained clinician who rarely shared her personal struggles with family members.

"She was a very quiet person who rarely shared her woes, perhaps owing to her marriage vows," he said.

Police are also searching for two other suspects believed to have been involved in the killing, who allegedly attempted to poison the arrested pastor after realizing police were closing in.

"We got credible information about their planned heinous act but we remained vigilant," said an investigator.

The pastor, who heads the Royal Calvary Church at Kongasis, had initially reported his wife's death as a suicide, but police have since termed this theory an attempt to conceal evidence.

Police commander John Onditi said the pastor will be arraigned in court for murder once investigations are complete.
