On May 2, 2021, a devastating fire gutted a house in Nakuru East's Forex area, claiming the lives of three children and a house girl. The officer, PC Mary Migwi, who lost her children, was on duty at the time of the incident.

Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai expressed his condolences to PC Migwi and her family, stating that the tragedy was a difficult and painful experience for the officer. He pledged to support PC Migwi, ensuring she receives the necessary psychological assistance and is settled.

Nakuru County Police Commander Beatrice Kiraguri confirmed that a post-mortem was conducted on Tuesday, and the bodies were positively identified. The officer is receiving psychosocial support ahead of the burial, which is slated for later this week.

Kenyan social media users have been expressing their condolences to the family, wishing PC Migwi strength and comfort during this difficult time.

As reported by The Standard, the house-help will be buried at her home in Miti Mingi Area on Thursday, while plans are underway to transport the remains of the three children to Karatina for burial.

IG Mutyambai's pledge of support has been welcomed by Kenyans, who are calling for the officer to receive all the necessary assistance during this challenging time.
