Kisii School has been closed indefinitely after students allegedly set fire to the school captain’s room during a visiting day incident that has heightened concerns over rising cases of unrest in learning institutions.

The fire broke out within the school compound during the visiting day program, causing damage to the room occupied by the student leader. Fortunately, no injuries or fatalities were reported, with school administrators and emergency responders acting swiftly to contain the situation before the blaze could spread to other sections of the institution.

Preliminary reports indicate that the incident occurred amid heightened tensions within the school, although the exact circumstances that led to the arson remain unclear. Authorities have since launched investigations to establish the cause of the disturbance and identify those responsible for the destruction of property.

Following the incident, the school administration, in consultation with education officials and security agencies, resolved to close the institution indefinitely as a precautionary measure. Students were directed to leave the school and return home pending further communication on the reopening date.

Police officers and officials from the Ministry of Education have commenced inquiries into the matter, with investigators expected to interview students, teachers, and other witnesses who were present during the visiting day activities.

The closure of Kisii School adds to a growing list of secondary schools that have recently experienced cases of unrest, dormitory fires, and vandalism, raising fresh concerns about discipline, student welfare, and conflict management within learning institutions.
