As the political landscape in Kenya continues to shift, President Uhuru Kenyatta's support in Mt Kenya is facing a significant threat. The region, which has traditionally been a stronghold for the president, is increasingly turning against him, with many voters expressing disillusionment with his failure to develop the region.

According to analysts, Uhuru's popularity in Mt Kenya has been in decline for some time, with many voters feeling that he has not delivered on his promises to improve the region's economy and infrastructure. The recent ejection of Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen and Senate Majority Whip Susan Kihika has further eroded Uhuru's support in the region, with many seeing it as a sign of the president's willingness to do whatever it takes to maintain power.

Deputy President William Ruto, on the other hand, has been quietly building his support in Mt Kenya, using his charisma and political acumen to win over voters who are increasingly disillusioned with Uhuru's leadership. Ruto's strategy is to portray himself as a champion of the people, someone who is committed to improving the lives of ordinary Kenyans.

As the 2022 elections approach, it is clear that Ruto is gaining ground in Mt Kenya, with many voters increasingly turning against Uhuru. While it is unlikely that Ruto will directly attack Uhuru, he will use his ground troops to spread propaganda and undermine the president's support base. The battle lines are drawn, and it remains to be seen who will emerge victorious in the end.
