June 25, 2020, marked another day of Kenyans on Twitter (KOT) expressing their outrage and disappointment towards Embakasi East Member of Parliament, Babu Owino.
However, this time around, it wasn't his usual antics that got him into trouble, but rather his decision to brag about his academic achievements on social media.
According to Babu Owino's social media post, he holds degrees in Actuarial Science and Law, as well as diplomas in Statistics, Mechanics, and Astrophysics.
"Yours truly and favorite son Hon. Babu Owino Paul Ongili Actuary-Actuarial Science FIRST CLASS HONORS, Lawyer-Second Class Upper Division, Masters In Actuarial science, Diploma in Statistics, Diploma in mechanics, Diploma in AstroPhysics, Diploma in Economics and Diploma in Industrial Chem," he wrote.
However, despite his impressive academic credentials, many Kenyans were quick to point out that his actions, particularly the shooting incident that left disc jockey DJ Evolve seriously injured, far outweigh his academic achievements.
"With all this, you didn’t calculate the damage after shooting someone. You’ve got knowledge but not intelligence," Kory Quan tweeted.
"What is the purpose of education if it doesn’t make one a better human being?" Ester Iraya asked.
"The only pics you should be posting is yourself in kamiti uniform. Hizi zingine sijui unataka tufanye nini nazo," Kat Mundia sarcastically suggested.
