On June 25, 2020, Meru Senator Mithika Linturi, a key ally of Deputy President William Ruto, spoke out about the Jubilee Party's infighting in an interview on Citizen TV's News Night show.
Linturi stated that the DP's Tangatanga outfit plans to use the law to take over the party from President Uhuru Kenyatta, as they believe in the country's institutions.
'I do not expect that this can be resolved right now but we will require to use the mechanisms that are set out by the law because I believe in institutions,' he said.
According to Linturi, the main issue is not President Kenyatta's vision for the country, but rather the influence of 'brokers' who surround the party leaders and are misleading the President.
'The major problem is the brokers that surrounds the party leaders who purport to have a lot of influence because the member of other parties out of the perception created want to believe them so much and this is what has cause us this problems,' he stated.
Linturi also emphasized that President Kenyatta has no doubt about the support he receives from Jubilee Party members, who are committed to his agenda.
