Girlfriend Detained After Policeman Dies at Her Residence ¶
A police constable, David Kurgat, collapsed and died at his girlfriend's house in Kuresoi South, Nakuru County, on July 24, 2021.
According to police reports, Kurgat had visited his girlfriend, who resides 1 kilometre North West of Olenguruone Police Station, before he collapsed and died 43 minutes past midnight.
Police are holding the lady because his friend passed away en route from her house," an OB No 03/24/07/2021 filed at the station read.
Detectives assigned to the case visited the scene where the officer died and others conducted forensics at the girlfriend's house.
Kurgat's body was ferried to Olenguruone Sub-County Morgue pending an autopsy.
Investigators detailed that the lady would assist in investigations, but declined to disclose whether she was being treated as a prime suspect or a witness.
The police demise comes at a backdrop of increased murders and deaths of officers in the National Police Service.
DCI sleuths are investigating several suicide and assassination cases reported in 2021.
