With National Social Security Fund (NSSF) deductions appearing on every payslip, millions of Kenyan workers are asking a simple question: Is my money really reaching my NSSF account? Tracking contributions used to mean long queues at NSSF offices, tedious paperwork, and endless waiting.

Today, members can check their statements directly on their phones. Whether through USSD or WhatsApp, the process is fast, secure, and requires zero travel.

This guide shows you exactly how to check NSSF contributions on your phone and stay on top of your retirement savings. By following these simple steps, you can view your contribution history, verify payments, and even request full financial statements without leaving your home.

NSSF USSD Code Makes Checking Contributions Fast

The easiest way to check your NSSF contributions on your phone is by using the USSD code *303#. This service is available on all mobile networks, requires no internet, and gives instant access to your financial information.

To start, dial *303# on your mobile phone. A welcome menu will appear with several options:

  1. Member Service
  2. Partnerships
  3. Tenants Purchase Scheme
  4. Validate Compliance Certificate
  5. Check Your NSSF Number

Choose option 1, Member Service, then input your ID number and PIN. A new menu will appear with four options:

  • My Account Information
  • Contribution Information
  • Payments
  • Benefit Inquiry

Select Contribution Information. This allows you to view your provisional contribution summary and detailed contribution statements.

The USSD platform also offers other convenient services. You can check your NSSF number, validate compliance certificates, access the Tenant Purchase Scheme, inquire about payments, and even check benefit status—all from your phone.

Using WhatsApp Chatbot to Check Contributions

For those who prefer messaging apps, NSSF provides a WhatsApp chatbot accessible at 0704 303 303. To use it, simply send “Hi” to the number. The chatbot responds with the same options available on USSD.

From there, you can:

  • Access your contribution statements
  • Check account information
  • Inquire about benefits
  • Validate compliance certificates

The WhatsApp platform is particularly convenient for those with smartphones and allows saving or sharing your statements digitally, making record-keeping easier.

Requesting Full Statements via Email

If you need an official copy of your financial statements, NSSF allows members to request one via email. Simply send your request to [email protected], including your full name, ID number, and contact details. The fund will email your full statement, ensuring you have all historical contributions documented for personal or official use.

Additionally, NSSF updates annual financial statements on its website. Regularly checking the NSSF portal allows members to stay informed about fund performance, total contributions, and investment growth.

NSSF has addressed concerns from social media users about access to financial information. The fund confirmed on January 29 that its digital platforms are fully operational, stating:

*”Members can check their NSSF statements through several convenient channels without visiting our offices: dial 303# on your mobile phone, use our WhatsApp chatbot on 0704 303 303, or send an email to [email protected] to request a full copy of your statement.”

The fund has seen impressive growth. As of June 2025, total contributions reached Ksh83.97 billion, up from Ksh62.29 billion the previous year—a 35% increase. Active members also grew from 3.3 million to 3.6 million.

Total member funds jumped from Ksh400 billion to Ksh572 billion, a 43% rise, while investments climbed from Ksh389 billion to Ksh558 billion. This growth reflects Kenya’s increasing workforce and the NSSF’s commitment to secure management of contributions. President William Ruto’s administration has set a target of Ksh1 trillion in assets by 2027, signaling further expansion and improved services.

By checking contributions regularly, members not only ensure their money is being remitted correctly but also gain confidence that their retirement savings are growing steadily. Whether via USSD, WhatsApp, or email, monitoring your NSSF contributions has never been easier.
