Guide to Kenya Pipeline Inuka Scholarship, Eligibility, Application, and Interview

The Kenya Pipeline Inuka scholarship has become one of the most impactful education programmes for learners with disabilities in Kenya. Launched by the KPC Foundation, the initiative removes barriers that keep talented students out of secondary school.

The 2026 edition specifically targets candidates who sat the 2025 Kenya Junior Secondary Education Assessment (KJSEA). Applications opened in December 2025, and county interviews now run in January 2026.

The programme prioritises merit, need, and inclusion while ensuring national balance through one boy and one girl per county. Beyond school fees, beneficiaries receive mentorship, uniforms, and assistive devices that make learning possible.

For many families, this scholarship is the difference between dreams stalled and futures secured.

Kenya Pipeline Inuka Scholarship Eligibility and Requirements

The Kenya Pipeline Inuka scholarship exists to help students with disabilities move smoothly from junior to senior secondary school under the Competency-Based Curriculum. KPC Foundation designed it to promote fairness, dignity, and equal opportunity in education.

To qualify, a learner must have sat the 2025 KJSEA. Performance matters. Applicants must have achieved either “meeting expectation” or “exceeding expectation.” This standard proves that the student can handle senior school work and thrive with the right support.

Registration with the National Council for Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD) is mandatory. Every applicant must present a valid NCPWD card or an official medical assessment confirming their disability. The Foundation uses this step to prevent fraud and protect genuine learners.

Financial need also plays a central role. Families must show that they cannot comfortably pay secondary school costs. Parents or guardians submit income statements, affidavits, or death certificates where applicable. Orphans and vulnerable learners receive special consideration.

The programme selects only two students per county, one boy and one girl. This rule guarantees gender balance and fair regional spread. It also ensures that every county gets representation rather than seeing all slots concentrated in urban areas.

Learners already enjoying other major scholarships may be disqualified. KPC wants to avoid double funding so that more students benefit. The vetting panel verifies all documents during interviews before making final selections.

Successful beneficiaries receive a formal certificate from the KPC Foundation. More importantly, they gain access to school essentials, assistive devices, and continuous mentorship. Some students later transition to tertiary support through the Inuka Plus initiative.

How to Apply for the Kenya Pipeline Inuka Scholarship

Applying for the Kenya Pipeline Inuka scholarship is simple, but accuracy is critical. Mistakes, false information, or forged documents lead to instant disqualification.

Applicants must first download the official Inuka Scholarship Application Form. It is available on the KPC Foundation website, the NCPWD portal, and county disability offices. Families without internet access can collect hard copies from local offices.

The form asks for personal details, type of disability, KJSEA results, school history, and family background. Applicants should complete every section clearly and honestly. Leaving blank spaces raises red flags during vetting.

Once filled, the form must be accompanied by key documents. These include the KJSEA assessment slip, NCPWD certificate, school leaving certificate, birth certificate, admission letter, and parent or guardian identification cards. Where relevant, families should attach death certificates.

Applicants must submit the forms in person during county interviews. Email or online submission alone is not accepted. Physical presentation allows the panel to verify documents and interact directly with the learner.

Parents should prepare documents early to avoid last-minute panic. Schools, chiefs’ offices, and county education officers can help families gather missing papers.

The process is entirely free. KPC warns families against fraudsters who demand money for “guaranteed slots.” Any such claims are scams.

Interviews and Deadlines

Interviews form the backbone of the selection process. For 2026, they run from 12 to 23 January across all counties. Each county has a specific date, venue, and time published by KPC Foundation.

Sessions typically run from 10.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. Applicants must attend in the county where they sat the 2025 KJSEA. Showing up in a different county leads to automatic disqualification.

The interview panel includes KPC Foundation officials, NCPWD representatives, county education officers, social services staff, and children’s welfare officers. This multi-agency team ensures fairness and transparency.

During the session, panelists review documents, ask questions about disability and school readiness, and assess financial need. They also observe how well the learner communicates and interacts.

Late attendance is rarely accommodated. Families should arrive early, carry all originals and copies, and keep documents neatly arranged in a file.

Applications opened on 15 December 2025, giving families about a month to prepare. With fixed interview dates, extensions are unlikely.
