UDA candidate Leonard Muthende has won the Mbeere North parliamentary by-election in Embu County.
Securing 15,802 votes against his closest rival, Newton Kariuki (Karish) of the Democratic Party (DP), who garnered 15,308 votes.
The by-election, held on November 27, 2025, was a high-stakes battle that pitted UDA against Deputy President Kithure Kindiki.
Against forces linked to former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
Muthende’s narrow 494-vote margin highlighted the constituency’s divided loyalties.
