And the mastermind? Police say a trusted 25-year-old community nurse orchestrated it all. She allegedly recruited two young men to bribe a medical intern with Ksh.10,000 and film the fatal injection.
The intern refused, choosing conscience over cash, and exposed the entire plan. The nurse and her accomplices are now behind bars.

Police in Kisii have arrested Fiona Mogere, a 25-year-old community health nurse, in connection with a disturbing attempted murder plot at Bosongo Hospital in Kitutu Central. Authorities say Mogere gave two men an insulin syringe filled with a dangerous, unidentified drug.
Their mission was simple — inject 82-year-old Jacob Moseti and kill him quietly in his hospital bed. But the plot fell apart when the men approached a medical intern with an offer — Ksh.10,000 for recording himself injecting Moseti with the drug.
The intern, stunned and suspicious, delayed them. He asked questions and proposed taking the phone to record the act elsewhere. This quick thinking saved Moseti’s life.
“They insisted I do it there and then,” the intern said. “But I knew something wasn’t right. I stalled. I offered to go record and come back. That’s when they let me leave.”
The suspects failed to find another way to execute their plan and were soon arrested. In police custody, they named Mogere as the one who had supplied the syringe and given them instructions. She was later found in possession of a pesticide and is now on suicide watch at Nyanchwa Police Station.
Hospital staff were shaken. “They couldn’t do it themselves because everyone in the ward wears uniforms,” said Monica Ngeresa, the hospital’s head nurse. “They needed someone who could get close without raising suspicion.”
