M-PESA Charges 2025
In 2025, Safaricom has streamlined its M-PESA charges, marking a new era of mobile money convenience for Kenyans.
With over 30 million active users, M-PESA remains the backbone of digital transactions in the country.
The changes to the cost structure, which took effect in January 2025, have been designed to promote interoperability, improve transparency, and support financial inclusion.
Here’s a comprehensive guide on what it now costs to send money via M-PESA, withdraw cash, and transfer to other mobile money networks.
Including the updated charges and important highlights to note.
What’s New in 2025?
Harmonized Transfer Fees
Sending money to users on Airtel Money and Telkom T-Kash now attracts the same fees as sending to other Safaricom users.
This is in line with government efforts to improve interoperability in mobile money.
Discontinued Transfers to Unregistered Users
For security and compliance reasons, you can no longer send money to unregistered mobile money users.
Maximum Transaction Limits Revised
Users can now transact up to KES 500,000 per day, with a KES 250,000 per transaction limit, up from the previous KES 150,000.
