Reports have emerged at a Nairobi-based medical facility responsible for conducting mandatory travel health examinations for individuals undertaking medical examinations for travel to Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states, including Kuwait, Bahrain, and the UAE, revealing growing frustration and serious concerns among applicants over unexplained delays and withheld results.
At the center of these complaints is Bayan Diagnostic Centre in Hurlingham, which many say is failing to release timely medical clearances, whether fit or unfit, raising questions about transparency and accountability in the processing of critical travel documentation.

Some applicants claim to have undergone multiple tests, including repeated X-rays, without receiving definitive results, causing anxiety and jeopardizing travel plans, especially for those with visas nearing expiration, with mounting criticism that, despite several follow-ups, the center has not provided clear explanations or resolutions, fuelling suspicions of mismanagement and negligence.
Below is the detailed firsthand account from an affected individual, providing an unfiltered perspective on the ongoing challenges at Bayan Diagnostic Centre.
“Hi Cyprian. I have to share with you something about GCC centres where their medicals (Bayan Medical Centre) are done so as to travel to Kuwait, Bahrain, and UAE. These people are taking advantage of Kenyans. You pay 10,500 for the medical but they won’t release the medical results, either fit or unfit. Personally, I went there and did my medical because I am travelling and I have a ready visa which is almost expiring. I went there on 2nd May for the medical but till today I have not received my results. Upon asking, they say I have a “habit of inflammation,” so I asked the lady nurse if there is medication for this. She said, “Hio si ugonjwa, we enda nyumbani utakuja after 5 days.” I went back only to be told the results are not out yet and I have to go for another x-ray. I took the x-ray and was told to come back after two days. I went for the results but they still kept me waiting, and finally, they said I should redo another x-ray. I did, but till now I haven’t received any results after three x-rays. I went to my chest doctor but the x-ray is okay. When I was there, I talked to a few people who were also there, and to my surprise, Bayan is not issuing any results or medication for people, and some visas have even expired. If you check the reviews on their Google page, you will understand that this centre needs to be called out. If someone is fit, they should not hold results; if someone is unfit, they also have the right to know. Bayan Medical Centre, in Hurlingham, Nairobi. Kindly Nyakundi, please help us reach these people.”
