Shocking reports of mistreatment and systemic abuse have emerged from within Kentons Pharmaceuticals, a leading full-range pharmacy wholesale and distribution company based in Kisumu, portraying a work environment where employees allege constant intimidation, discrimination, and arbitrary disciplinary actions that create pervasive fear and threaten their job security.
Insiders expose the harsh reality of working at Kentons Pharmaceuticals, with staff reporting intimidation, bias, and persistent workplace mistreatment.
Disgruntled staff describe being forced to sign contracts without proper explanation, subjected to unlawful dismissals, and coerced into silence under threats of termination, while favoritism and racial bias reportedly dictate opportunities and treatment within the company.
Workers report that management routinely ignores complaints of harassment and exploitation, leaving employees feeling powerless and vulnerable to ongoing mistreatment, with some alleging that bribes are used to suppress grievances and cover up violations of labor laws.
Many staff members claim that the toxic environment has caused severe emotional and psychological stress, with daily fear of retaliation affecting their performance and overall well-being.
Employees also point to a lack of transparency in promotions, task assignments, and disciplinary proceedings, creating an atmosphere where merit is disregarded and arbitrary decisions dominate workplace interactions.
Staff further report that attempts to voice concerns or seek redress are often met with intimidation or threats of dismissal, fostering a culture of silence and compliance that undermines basic labour rights.
Many argue that the heavy-handed management style has led to widespread dissatisfaction and low morale, with some employees feeling trapped in an environment that prioritizes control and obedience over fair treatment and professional growth.
Below is what one staff member described as a daily reality at Kentons Pharmaceuticals.
“Dear Nyakundi. Kindly hide my identity, I beg you. I am writing this with a heavy heart, full of pain and hopelessness. Working at Kentons Pharmaceuticals here in Kisumu has been nothing short of a nightmare. Every single word you published is the bitter truth, but I feel it is even worse when you live through it daily. We are treated like we don’t matter, like we are disposable. Management does not care about us at all. Intimidation, exploitation, discrimination, and mistreatment are our daily bread. If you dare raise your voice, you are either silenced or threatened with dismissal. Many of us live in fear every day, just praying to keep our jobs so we can provide for our families, even though the environment is so toxic that it slowly kills our spirit. There is no respect for Kenyan workers. The favoritism, the racism, the disregard for labour laws is open and cruel. People are forced to sign contracts without explanation, dismissed unlawfully, and yet no one listens to us. Bribes are used to cover cases, leaving us helpless and broken. I am so frustrated, hurt, and exhausted. Every morning I wake up dreading to report to work, knowing that no matter how hard I work, I will still be treated as if I am nothing. I feel voiceless, but I refuse to stay silent anymore. Please use your platform to continue exposing this cruelty. Maybe, just maybe, someone will finally hear our cries. Hide my identity, I fear retaliation, but I cannot keep this pain inside anymore. Sincerely, A Broken Employee.”
