Sharon Otieno is set to be buried today in Homabay, a family member has confirmed. Further reports have indicated that her estranged husband has never contacted the family even after he was given time. Sharon Otieno's husband, Mr Benard Owuor failed to contact the family after he was given 44 days to organize for the burial. When Okoth Obado was interrogated by detectives, he said Sharon had never told him that she was married or had kids. Sharon's body is currently at her grandfathers home in Magare Village, Homabay county after being removed early yesterday from the MED 25 International mortuary in Mbita. According to Luo Traditions, a woman must be buried at her husbands home irrespective of where she dies. Traditionally, Sharon should be buried at Owuor's home. As at yesterday, Mourners had thronged the grandfather's home to view the body "We decided to bury her at our grandfather's home because that man calling himself her husband failed to show up, or communicate. He is nowhere to be seen" A family member protested
Further information from Sharon's step paternal grandfather John Olweya confirmed that Owuor had not paid the dowry making the union between the two null and void.
"Sharon will be buried in Odege’s homestead because a grandfather is considered an equivalent of a granddaughter’s husband" "We waited long enough for Sharon’s husband to appear, but he did not." John Olweya futher indicated
" We stopped waiting for Owuor on Wednesday and decided to prepare the grave site. “We’re burying Sharon here because her husband failed to communicate to us. We assume she had not been married,” Olweya further indicated
Sharon’s unborn baby was also buried in the same homestead. More than 2,000 mourners are expected at Sharon’s funeral. As this proceeds, Okoth Obado is going bonkers in Jail.
