A parliamentary committee has rejected President Uhuru Kenyatta’s nominee to the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights. The Justice and Legal Affairs Committee said the process leading to the nomination of Dr Samuel Njuguna Kabue did not comply with the law. “A new selection panel should be constituted to receive applications, interview applicants and shortlist them for nomination,” said a committee in a report tabled on Thursday. The committee was chaired by Ainabkoi MP Samuel Chepkonga and said that while Dr Kabue was qualified and experienced, he was not shortlisted by the selection panel.
