Late this afternoon, suspected terrorists hit the Dusit Hotel in Riverside Drive, Nairobi and several explosions and gunshots were reported at the scene.
All relevant authorities promptly responded to the alarm call and within no time, rescue operations were under way.
Kenyans on social media, however, could not help but notice the absence of Nairobi City governor Mike Sonko and President Uhuru Kenyatta whose whereabouts remain unknown as both have been silent since the unfortunate attack began.
In fact, as rescue operations were ongoing, the governor's official Twitter account, posted photos of him in a meeting with Mombasa Governor Joho's allies in the coast.
This is what Kenyans had to say on this matter.
