Would you mind checking on why the East African Portland Cement Company is Collapsing?
They have high wage bill, they've been sacking the 'people on the ground', but they have like 200 managers who just sit in the office (wako tu kwa office). Those managers have exorbitant allowances, like transport allowance, for example someone being paid 200k the least, 80% school fees of managers children upto 4 kids, whether they are in loca or international school, the kids fees are catered for by the ailing Cement company.
Let me not even mention the medical allowance there is a story of someone having paid Ksh500k for root canal, he came and claimed the money from the company.
What's killing the company is wage bill.
Locals are losing jobs for sure. It is sad.
The current CEO has tried to streamline a little bit but nothing positive is happening.
Can the allowances be reduced to accommodate watu wa mkono (casuals), those currently on employment are overworked, like some can go upto 17 hours a day and no overtime is paid but the managers with those huge allowances are in offices not on the ground.
