Panic has gripped residents of Tree Wall Apartments along General Mathenge Drive in Westlands, Nairobi, following a botched robbery that was captured on CCTV.
The bizarre incident took place on the evening of Tuesday, November 15, 2022, when a group of five (5) men attempted to access the building's underground parking by force.
The suspected robbers reportedly made entry under the clever guise of visitors to one of the apartment owners, but upon a request for confirmation, the resident said he was not expecting any guests.
This prompted the building's security guards to swiftly jump into action by stopping the vehicle and confronting its occupants to clarify their destination.
This led to a heated altercation, which later escalated to a full-blown scuffle between the security guards and the unknown men, who somehow managed to flee the scene.
The management at Tree Wall Apartments has since banned doorstep deliveries and directed that henceforth, all items should be collected at the gate.
They have further advised residents to always keep entry doors to their blocks completely shut until further notice.

The grey car started heading towards the underground parking. One of the guards followed them and asked them to come back up again, so they could be verified before being let in. The car had 5 occupants. The apartment owner was contacted by our security and asked if they were expecting any guests. The owner said he was not and said he would come down to see who they were. Very thoughtful of the owner. When the owner came down, the people realized that they would be cornered. So they had a scuffle with our guards. Our guards managed to fight them off and one of occupants of the grey car opened the gate, and they sped off. Our guards were very alert to the situation and having stopped the car to further advance into our property. Backup was called, and they came. It is an incident which could have gone wrong. We the management team would like to stress with immediate effect that no delivery of items, food, or be it anything to be collected from the gate. The delivery person will not be allowed to even come to the respective block glass door. And again and again, we want to stress to all homeowners and your house help to always have the entry doors to your block remain shut always.
