Nairobians are desperate when they are looking for a new house to rent, and this is where the new housing scam has emerged.
The chief editor of this site received information on the above early this morning. Hi Cyprian, I hope you are well and healthy. I would like to bring to your attention about some fraudsters who are scamming people out of deposit for nonexistent houses. This is the number they use. 0706 504340. I have attached screenshots of a Google search of the number and an MPESA message. Most of those adverts are the same except for the place. When you call she makes it look like the houses are on such demand that if you don't send the deposit immediately you will not secure the apartment. It would be nice if people knew about this. I was a victim. I'd appreciate if I stayed anonymous. You could experiment and call them looking for a house just to make sure. I would like to add that I went all the way to Yaya center and waited for so long only for nobody to show up and that whole time I was waiting, the lady kept telling me to send the complete house deposit and water deposit before she comes to show me the house. She said she was coming to get me with her car but avoided answering when I asked what type of car it was so I could identify them easily. Even after I got back home and pretended to still be at Yaya, she kept saying that she was coming and that I should pay all the money immediately. When I said I had cash, she asked me to find an MPESA and deposit then send. Here is the first number I called that referred me to the woman — 0712183246. Thanks for your time.
