The monopoly of East African Breweries Limited (EABL) is slowly falling apart thanks to the new buddies in town courtesy of Diageo.
EABL and CEO Jane Karuku have been taken to court by disgraced investors and key distributors.
" Hello Nyakundi, EABL and their parent company Diageo have been taken to court by their former distributors who accuse Diageo of implementing dubious/unlawful practices that have crippled their businesses." Mrs Karuku, who speaks bluntly, is not new to controversy and the latest case is expected to put her pocketbook and political network to test.

According to investors and senior distributors to the company, EABL has the country's most greedy management.

If EABL is not polluting rivers, or grabbing and privatising public roads, it's using their connection and monopoly to harrass local investors and businesses It's not the first time Karuku and EABL are being taken to court.
A few years ago Keroche in their suit accused EABL of using their dominant position to engage in restrictive trade practices in contravention of the Competitions Act.
According to Keroche Jane Karuku had made a determination to see EABL drive them out of business by embossing beer bottles that have the universal shape with unique initials to prevent rivals from using them.
Lady Justice Grace Nzioka ruled against EABL in reference to Case 88 of 2016 in which Keroche Breweries had petitioned the court to stop EABL and Kenya Breweries Ltd from embossing the 500ml brown beer bottles commonly referred to as Euro bottles with ËABL initials.
