Detectives have, for the last few weeks been looking for a knife that was allegedly used in the murder of the late Monica Kimani, sources close to the murder probe have confirmed to us.
The detectives are yet to recover the weapon — believed to be a knife — that was used in the murder of Monica Kimani in Nairobi’s Kilimani area more than four weeks ago as the prosecution nears.
As part of efforts to get the weapon, two weeks ago, detectives took with them Joseph Irungu, a key suspect in the probe, to the scene of the crime and back to the route that TV journalist Jacque Maribe’s saloon car he used was captured on the fateful night. The team also drove back to the Royal Park estate where Irungu and Maribe lived.
The officers from the homicide unit later went with Irungu to three estates said to be his friends’ residences. The knife was nowhere to be seen!
The detectives are now seeking for a wristband that Jowie was allegedly wearing with a belief that it had the knife he is believed to have used to slit Monica Kimani's throat.
However, eyebrows are being raised with emerging reports that Monica Kimani was detained at JKIA on the fateful night for being possession of undeclared cash. She was, however, let go after a high flying individual called senior KAA officials to secure her release. This high flying person is yet to be questioned. Media is totally silent about this angle of the probe.
According to our sources, the detectives questioned Olando, the GSU officer arrested over the murder about the wristband, as they struggle to find the knife, a key evidence in the murder.
Jowie's family member we interviewed through secure communication told us their son is being set up by the same people ''feeding the media with a narrative'' to show that Jowie is behind the murder.
" Mr Nyakundi, If you look at it, you would know someone is seriously behind the narrative especially the one feeding media with the same narrative to put the impression that Jowie did it. Why are they turning everyone into a state witness, who is this powerful person controlling everything? "
