First of all, let me take this opportunity to thank you for your continued effort to expose and bring sanity to the corporate world albeit their fierce campaign to bring you down.
Now to the main point. I do hope that you are aware of the recent Safaricom promo dubbed Tunukiwa. I purchase daily data bundles worth 50/= from Safaricom and depending with my usage, I could purchase this twice or thrice a day. That means everytime I subscribe 50/= worth of Daily Data Bundles, I get 150MB. This translates to 450MB if I buy the same thrice a day which automatically earns me my daily limit of Ksh.108 as "storo bonus" airtime.
Now, today I decided to give the much touted 444# a try. I was prompted to spend 150/= and earn 450MB as Tunukiwa Data. To begin with, that is not an offer, going by the figures I've given you above. If I spend 50/= on Daily Data Bundles three times a day I'll still spend 150/= and get 450MB in bundles, see? So listing a similar figure in their "Tunukiwa offer" is a con, to say the least. Now, that's not even the main reason I'm complaining.
So what convinces me to take the "offer" is the fact that it is a one-off operation. See, I get 450MB in a single purchase when I go for the "offer" as opposed to doing it piece-meal just to end up spending the same amount of money and get the same amount of data bundles by repeating the same process thrice. So I go for the former. All along, at the back of my mind I know that when I spend Ksh.150, I automatically get the now familiar "Congratulations! You have received 108.00 KSH STORO Bonus Airtime expiry midnight . Bonus can be used for local voice calls and SMS. Dial 460# to check balance. ". But how much storo bonus do I get? ZERO! So I call customer care and there response is "We're sorry you do not earn Storo Bonus when you purchase bundles through Tunukiwa Offer."
Now, my question is:- When I spend the Ksh.150/= to purchase the 450MB (which is not even an offer in the first place) does this money go to Airtel, Orange or Yu Mobile or it goes to Safaricom? If it goes to Safaricom, why deny me my Storo Bonus Points? Am I being punished for purchasing data bundles through 444#? One would argue that because it's an offer (meaning that am spending less) then the storo bonus is taken care of within the offer, but just as I have stated above, it's not even an offer. So why should Safaricom take us for a ride, giving us an "offer" with one hand and snatching our other benefits from the other?
My advice to a Safaricom subscribers out there is, only purchase "Kutunukiwa" products if you want to forfeit your storo bonus points.
