It is very hard to create content and maintain huge viewership.
Sometimes Kenyan mainstream media journalists send me exposes that they can't do on their platforms because of many interests.
Without the bloggers alternative, these stories would die a natural death. Only bloggers expose issues in media houses eg a Rogue Boss !

The era of mainstream stealing Bloggers stories and making them look like theirs should be over. When they take stories from competing media houses, they quote them.
Right now, as a Blogger if I let corporates to advertise on my blog and I make millions, many Kenyans will say I have been bought out by them. But for the media, It is cool and they deserve it.
But many bloggers will tell you the pressure they get when they do a very critical STORY. Calls and some send Police to harass you. In media, you can hide behind you employer but a Blogger ni kama kupanda motorbike, in an accident, you are the body and you get direct impact!
That is why many Bloggers are hiding behind anonymity because there is a lot of pressure. You cant work! Lawsuits, detectives on your ASS all the time because you are an individual as opposed to hiding behind a media house!
Personally, I have been approached by some companies to work with them but it is CRAZY out here. You have to lick ASS to make the chums. They give you to an agency that wants to control your content and want you to change the model that made you. I quit after a day!
And if you are not a friend to Safaricom-controlled BAKE , you won't get a Gig. By the way, we know some UNKNOWN content-less "BLOGS" that make a lot of money because they know how to lick ASS as do as BAKE and Nairobi corporate cartels want!
