Media reported that Coca-Cola has launched a Kshs. 3.5 billion kitty to provide clean and safe water to six million people across the continent.
The initiative entails laying pipes and construction of storage facilities in Isiolo, Kitui, Kisumu, Nairobi, Naivasha, Nakuru and Mombasa, Maragua, Sagana and Thika.
They target a million Kenyans with about 400,000 to be reached by 2020.
The programme, dubbed ‘Replenish Africa Initiative (RAIN), was initiated by Coca Cola Foundation and has attracted investments from public and private sector institutions among them Millennium Water Alliance, The Nature Conservancy, Water and Sanitation for the Urban Poor (WSUP) and Amref Health Africa.
What they are not saying, is that they are privatizing our water.
Water which is God-given for free has been polluted by these same fucking industries so that they can privatise and continue to sell us bottled water oops, poisons.
If you doubt me, then look to God-forsaken India.
In 2017, more than a million traders in India boycotted Coca-Cola after claims from from two Indian trade associations that the foreign firm was exploiting the country’s water resources.
Traders in the south Indian state of Tamil Nadu, which was drought hit at the time, chose to replace Coca-Cola brands with locally produced soft drinks.
“These foreign companies are using up scarce water resources of the state,” said K Mohan, secretary of the Vanigar Sangam, one of the associations supporting the boycott.
If you were waiting for companies such as Coca-Cola to show you humane behavior, then you'll wait for eternity.
The Indian protesters showed that Coca-Cola used excessive water. The India Resource Cebtee estimated that it takes 1.9 litres of water to make one small bottle of Coca-Cola.
Other estimates showed that over 400 litres of water was used to make a bottle of Coca-Cola.
“According to our research Coca-Cola is the number one buyer of sugarcane in India and Pepsi is number three. If you take into account the water used for sugarcane, then we’re using 400 litres of water to make a bottle of Cola," Amit Srivastava, director at the NGO India Resource Centre.
This is inhumane.
Back to Kenya, a resident of Simba Villa in Embakasi Village has this to say about Nairobi Bottlers, a Coca-Cola bottling plant, based in Embakasi village.
IMPUNITY BY NCWSC & COCA-COLA COMPANY

Nobody, not even Nairobi City Water & Sewerage Company (NCWSC), should be allowed to cut off our water, divert it to our neighbour - the Coca-Cola bottling plant- without explaining why the Coca-Cola bottling plant deserves to have the water more than the 1,000 residents of Simba Villas.
We have equal rights as coca cola on use of the water. Coca cola has title to their premises just as we have ours hence the need to co exist harmoniously.
If water to Simba Villa has to be cut off according to the NCWSC rationing schedule, then the Coca-Cola bottling factory's water should also be cut off for the same duration since we are connected to the same pipeline.
Failure to use coca cola products has no health side effects but failure to have water has dire health consequences.
