According to individuals familiar with the matter, employees performing similar functions, notably recovery agents and field agents, are reportedly receiving different levels of compensation, despite doing comparable work in the field. Employees at 4G Capital Kenya lament pay gaps and unfair hiring practices, raising questions on transparency and internal equity.
Some employees claim these disparities are not tied to performance, qualifications, or measurable merit but appear to stem from opaque internal processes.
Several sources also allege irregularities in the company’s hiring and promotion practices.
Despite performing duties equivalent to those of a field agent, some recovery agents report being repeatedly denied formal elevation to that role after attending multiple interviews.
This has led to growing frustration among staff who feel that advancement opportunities are not fairly distributed.
4G Capital Kenya, licensed and regulated by the Central Bank of Kenya, has built its reputation as one of Africa’s fastest-growing fintech firms.
It serves over 350,000 clients, 72% of whom are women and specializes in using AI and machine learning to issue mobile money loans in under two minutes.
