I've read your article on workplace mistreatment from Von Hotpoint and I'd like to report the mistreatment we're suffering in other Indian companies.
I am an employee of a Indian sugar company in western Kenya and I have worked here for almost three and a half years. I am a degree holder but just as the articles I have read says, all the posh jobs are reserved for the Indians. I have been given a job which is entirely different from my expertise yet they give the jobs which I trained for to the Indians.
These foreigners apart from being illiterate (which you can tell since they are not even computer literate and their inability to write clear sentences in English), are also in the country illegally without even a working permit.
I mean who would give a working permit to a non-professional right? But they are still here and they are still working and they are being paid almost six times my salary for a job I took the coveted HELB loan to train for.
Personally I have given up on even trying to fight for my rights, this is Kenya; the man with fat pockets will always be king and the weak will never have any rights but I don't want my kids to grow up in this type of society.
Unfortunately, racism is still alive, and the funny thing is that someone thinks the color of his/her skin warrants them another level of job and another level of pay. It is even more unfortunate that this racial abuse is happening here at our home soil.
