CAPTION: Murang'a Governor Mwangi Wa Iria Disturbed residents from Murang'a County have expressed fears of a potentially bleak future thanks to the current crop of mediocre politicians that are involuntarily holding them hostage.
The worried locals claim that throughout his two-term tenure, Mwangi Wa Iria's incompetent government has been a strong testament to a deep leadership vacuum in the vote-rich region.
There reportedly exists a shared feeling on the ground that the levels of ineptness witnessed are beyond staggering.
Most of the blame has been directed towards Wa Iria, who is fingered for leading the disasterclass which has left most helpless inhabitants of the county suffering dire consequences of this gross mismanagement.
Those in isolated towns are up in arms over the lack of critical amenities such as healthcare, running water, and electricity.
One such resident that discreetly spoke to us revealed how health facilities in some impoverished areas have resulted in unconventional modes of transporting critically ill patients due to grounded county ambulances.
A gallery of viral images forwarded to nyakundireport.com shows a Toyota Hilux pickup truck converted into a makeshift emergency vehicle complete with an oxygen tank mounted in the cargo area.
The anonymous source further disclosed that as all this is happening, Murang'a County's Health CEC Mr Joseph Mbai has left his duty to seek the gubernatorial seat under Wa Iria's Usawa Kwa Wote party. Earlier this year, a string of local tabloids reported how the anti-graft agency sought to repossess two properties believed to be bought using proceeds of crime.
Wa Iria, however, denied owning the properties as well as influencing the award of Sh542,610,615 media buying tender to Top Image Media Consultants Ltd.
At the time, detectives suggested that the firm belonged to the governor’s relatives and associates.
They also argued that part of the cash was used to purchase the assets.
