CAPTION: Langata Road, Nairobi Reports have revealed that a hit and run incident recorded on Thursday, 5 August 2021 along Lang’ata Road was caused by a senior police officer attached to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Through an Occurence Book (OB) report seen by nyakundireport.com , the cop named Zackary King’ori Mwangi is said to have been speeding on the wrong side of the road heading towards Karen, with more than a dozen of bodaboda riders hot on his pursuit.
Officer on patrol Flora Mwongeli who witnessed the incident said she took note of the bizzare happening and decided to trail behind the group in an attempt to establish the cause of the chaos.
On reaching the Langata Barracks area, she found the speeding vehicle cornered and the driver captured by the angry mob.
Mwongeli arrived just in time to intervene and save the driver from the crowd's wrath.
Officer King’ori who was in the company of a woman had already taken a beating and suffered bruises on the lips and arms.
His female counterpart escaped unhurt.
They were then escorted to Lang’ata Police Station where it was established that police officer King’ori had knocked down two pedestrians at the Carnivore Junction.
He was speeding on the wrong side of the road with his vehicle (Registration No: KBU 754M) which was heavily vandilized by the bodaboda riders.
The victims suffered multiple injuries and were rushed to Kenyatta National Hospital by a good samaritan after King’ori fled the scene.
In the occurrence book, King’ori said that he was on his way to Karen Hospital to pick up a person in distress.
Interestingly, the two were allowed to go home free.
