Nominated Mp David Ole Sankok and police rescued a 68-year-old man from his brother's house in Ololoito area of Narok North, where he had been locked up for five years.
Mr. Emmanuel Turere who is sick and disabled was discovered after Hon. Sankok and police officers raided Saningo Turere’s home and took him to Narok County Referral Hospital.
The victim was under the care of his brother since he was involved in a road accident in 2014. His only daughter, Virginia Siololei could also not be allowed to see him.
She the moved to alert the nominated Mp who took the police to where Emmanuel was caged,
MP Sankok represents persons living with disabilities in the National Assembly.
The operation was led by Narok North sub-county police commander Fredrick Shiundu, who led the operation said Emmanuel was not getting proper care. He is in worrying condition.
Shiundu said Emmanuel’s problems began after he bequeathed his land to only daughter while his brothers were also hoping to inherit it.
Two people have also been arrested as police continue to carry out more investigations.
Sankok vowed to follow up the matter to ensure that justice is served to Emmanuel.
“I’ve already sought the services of a top lawyer to take up the matter and those who were involved in the incidents should be punished to serve as a lesson to other people who are fond of mistreating persons with disabilities,” Sankok said.
Such cases are common in Narok. Sankok is on record storming a home in Narok town where he rescued a disabled boy, 15, who had been locked up by in a sheep pen for the more than 10 years.
In 2015, Sankok stopped another family from grabbing a parcel of land belonging to a blind man. The relatives claimed that the man had died and they were trying to process his death certificate.
