Just after Cnyakundi.com shared the complaint against Safaricom by a Twitter user Joseph Muthengi, another client has sent a slightly similar experience, but this time touching on NCBA Bank - Safaricom MShwari product. NCBA was hacked in the last month and despite being shown its weakness so as to improve, it went on to report the white hat hackers to police.

I lost Sh1000 from my MPESA mysteriously.
I deposited Sh500 twice on different occasions to NCBA Bank’s MShwari Lock Savings Account and it was credited. However, after a while they deducted it telling me the money wasn't collected from MPESA.
On reaching out to both Safaricom and NCBA, they started a blame game going on and forth between me and themselves before they decided to hang me out to dry.
I have since boycotted the Mshwari Lock Account Saving platform for good. If I cannot trust them with Sh1000, why should I trust them with thousands more?
Something is seriously amiss with Safaricom and its mobile money platforms and airtime and data systems, so to speak. Their customer service is also aloof when it comes to valid and legitimate irregularities.
The Communication Authority is merely just there as a decoration and a toothless dog that never amounts to anything substantial whatsoever, much like the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) with its regulatory responsibilities. Banks close, people lose money and they stage PRs and that's just about it.
The same case with Safaricom here, I can bet that nothing will be done, and this is just sad.
