Sabotage: Entrepreneur accuses Telkom Kenya of intentionally blocking vendor paybills

An entrepreneur has accused struggling and thieving Telecommunication firm Telkom Kenya of sabotaging paybills used by vendor firms to sell airtime.

" Telkom Kenya are blocking investors paybills and when a client calls for help they give their paybill instead of fixing. They are doing this intentional and it’s not right ", Afya Centre Crew (@AfyaCentreCrew) wrote on Twitter.

Telkom however didn't have an explanation on the failure by vendor paybills to dispense airtime in the last three days. Today, Sunday, 25th July 2021 is the fourth day.

" Hi @AfyaCentreCrew , Our sincere apologies. We currently have a network incidence. Please be patient as our team is working to restore back the services.^eS", it replied to the allegations. The back and forth between Afya Centre Crew and another person, possibly a Telkom Employee incognito (under an assumed identity) was more interesting. The above exchange is not helpful, an entrepreneur vending Telkom Kenya airtime has been bombarded with client complaints in the last three days and yet all Telkom says is ' We currently have a network incidence' without releasing a statement to address the true nature of the incidence. Was Telkom hacked and data stollen; system sabotaged?

Telkom Kenya airtime vendors are many and all of them were locked out, they are now making losses refunding airtime yet Telkom can't refund the service fee to the vendors.

The govt should sack all the top managers of Telkom, restructure the firm and have it become efficient. We can't have a firm that now resorts to stealing airtime through forced subscription whose only way out is through calling a non-existent customer care.
