I’m a student who graduated at Rongo university on 6/12/2019.
I joined the university in 2015 September 7th, since I joined the university, I have undergone enough frustration from the administration (not only me but all students) but due to fear of intimidation by being suspended or expelled the students have always kept quiet but today have been touched by the saddening news I received when I went to acquire the transcripts and because of that I want to highlight this issues to be exposed so that the world can know exactly what's happening in that institution. Finance Department. Today I went to the school to get my transcripts having graduated on the above-mentioned date, so at the finance office, the school SANRES accountant checked my fee statement and realised that I and the whole school owe the school four thousand shillings; upon doing enquiries I was told by the accountant that I was UNDERBILLED IN FOURTH YEAR SEMESTER TWO, something I never understood coz if we the school of SANRES had got issues we couldn't even graduate just as they have done to us when sitting for examinations and cats with zero fee balance.
One week before we sat for examinations (4.2) by then Mr Ombati was the school SANRES Accountant he maliciously increased our fee and we demanded to know the increment, the pressure made him refer us to the boss who gave him the order to do so, the head of accounts that is madam Jesca; This is the head of finance, a very rude, corrupt and incompetent head of finance. So the angry student approached and he reiterated that we were UNDERBILLED in Second year Second semester and that we must pay that money if we really want to do our exams and graduate, so because we were desperate of doing exams we decided to call our parents and pay the money and finally sat for the exams. Now we want the original transcripts and the certificates they want us to pay another amount of money in the name of underbilling, sincerely this is away of the university cartels minting money from the students which are very wrong and must be exposed and the culprits put under bars.
The finance officer madam Olivia; was also approached but he turned the students away from that she wanted a letter written and signed by the class rep, which we did but was never acted upon up-to-date. The thieving act by the Rongo university Administration is not a new thing but the 2017 and 2018 class was extorted and because they had already graduated they couldn't gather and demand justice and now here the same issue is yet to happen to the class of 2019 class of graduands Please help. Non-Residents These are comrades who live outside the school premise(hostel)so the school administration has come up with away to siphon money from these innocent comrades, i.e. most PSSP students always stay in private hostels from there day of joining the university, so there is filling non-resident form which is later submitted to the department of accommodation and catering so that they may not deduct the four thousand shillings which are deducted if you stay in the hostel.So these guys wait until we graduate and the time we are coming for the certs and transcripts, they slap us with ghost hostel fee, that is 4k per sem times 8 semesters in fours years for every student who graduated.Enough is Enough you must help us to expose this.This act has also been seen for the years 2017 and 2019 and now we are yet to experience the same.
