Mr. Isaiah Kubai, BIFU Secretary General
Banking Insurance and Finance Union of Kenya (BIFU), is the union that the employees in the financial industry are subscribed to. It is led by one Mr. Isaiah Kubai.
Mr. Kubai has led BIFU since 7th May, 1986 and treats the union as his personal property.
BIFU specifically covers employees in Banks, Insurance, Saccos, Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), National Social Security Fund (NSSF), Forex Bureaus, Money changers, Kenya Women Finance Trust (KWFT), Agricultural Finance Corporation (AFC) among others.
The union takes around Kshs. 600 from its members. However, there nothing to show for it, not even an election to change the rotten BIFU management.
The constitution of BIFU stipulates that delegates must elect management, but Mr. Kubai has never called for an election, he handpicks staff whom he can control.
Mr. Kubai doesn't have an honest bone in his body, the guy runs BIFU in total disregard of the Unions constitution, he gives away money for use in the union without proper due diligence for when asked to produce audited accounts, he doesn't have.
How does he operate this way?
Be use of Mr. Kubai, BIFU doesn't have any Human Resources Manual or system in place to run it.
All these makes it easier for him to run the institution with impunity. To sleep with his Personal assistant Irene Mwangi, who she gave Kshs. 2 Million house loan without any documentation.
