CAPTION: Roy Sasaka Telewa A red flag has been raised at the National Government Affirmative Action Fund (NGAAF) which falls under the Ministry of Public Service, Youth and Gender Affairs, following the recent appointment of new CEO Roy Sasaka Telewa. Writing to this blog on Wednesday, September 21, 2022, a concerned staffer within the state organization expressed deep worry over the controversial choice which appears to have been selected under irregular circumstances.
NGAAF board members hastily confirmed Mr Telewa a few weeks ago.
The source likens the decision to the surprising move of ICT CS Joe Mucheru when he bizarrely appointed Mr Stanley Kamanguya as the ICT Authority CEO, on August, 8th 2022 - one day before the general election.
The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) is urged to revisit the matter and quickly curtail the brazen illegalities which threaten to render hundreds of young Kenyans jobless. "Hi Cyprian. I currently work at NGAAF and am really shocked at what has happened recently and what is bound to happen and keep happening if this matter goes unknown. An appointment made by the board members of NGAAF or whoever was responsible, for the current sitting CEO Roy Sasaka Telewa is similar to that made by Joe Mucheru on 8th August- a day before the elections - and purportedly communicated on 15 September, which is highly irregular and must be revisited. Who appointed him? Who was in that panel? Why was his appointment backdated? Can a full financial and ethics and corruption background audit be done on him on his previous employment status? These illegal appointments of staff members in the public sector should come to an end and the Ethics and Corruption Commission should do its job. It is just a matter of time before these illegalities will cost innocent people their jobs here and in the entire public sector in Kenya. Why is he and other public officials always getting away with corruption, tribalism, nepotism and misappropriation of public funds?" the source writes.
Roy Sasaka Telewa previously served as the Chief Executive Officer, National Youth Council, which is domiciled at the Ministry of Public Service, Youth and Gender.
