The intern, stunned and suspicious, delayed them. He asked questions and proposed taking the phone to record the act elsewhere. This quick thinking saved Moseti’s life.
“They insisted I do it there and then,” the intern said. “But I knew something wasn’t right. I stalled. I offered to go record and come back. That’s when they let me leave.”
The suspects failed to find another way to execute their plan and were soon arrested. In police custody, they named Mogere as the one who had supplied the syringe and given them instructions. She was later found in possession of a pesticide and is now on suicide watch at Nyanchwa Police Station.
