The National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) S avings And Credit Co-Operative (Sacco), is accused of non payment of shares of a retired member.
The refund is often supposed to be paid within 60 days after someone pulls out of the Sacco. However, nearly a year later, this client has not received the full amount. This has caused untold suffering to him and his family.
Below is his story.
Dear Cyprian,
I have been a member of NHIF SACCO for several years.
Last year, in May 2018, I resigned from the Sacco and after the mandatory 60 days I expected to receive my shares refund.
After so much pull and push, and begging I was refunded Kshs. 50,000.
This year I sought the help of the Commissioner of Cooperatives, Mrs. Mary Mungai , they paid me another sum of Kshs. 83,500.
In their commitment letter to the commissioner they had promised to pay the balance of Kshs. 100,000 in the first week of March 2019, which they never did.
When I wrote to remind them of the balance they casually replied that they have noted it. Just one word.
The reason as to why am seeking your help is because my children have been sent home from school due to lack of school fees.
Kindly assist me get the refund because this Sacco has been trading with my money with no dividends and the education of my children is at stake due to their none cooperation.
Please I believe that Government of Kenya (GoK) is able and capable of assisting me get my money as soon as possible to enable my children resume their studies.
I have attached their commitment letter for your perusal and action.
Kindly act fast to save my situation as I am in dire straits especially on matters school fees for my children.
Please assist me as I am a faithful taxpayer.
