CAPTION: NMS Director of Health Dr Ouma Oluga Healthcare workers in Nairobi county have pleaded with Governor Johnson Sakaja not to reward the disgraced Director of Health in the now defunct NMS, Ouma Oluga with a job in the county government.
In a letter received by the Sakaja's office on Tuesday, October 11, the medics argue that during his reign of terror, "F ührer " Oluga did not show any regard for their welfare or service delivery to citizens. "Healthcare workers suffered from unprocedural removal from the payroll, suspensions and cooked up disciplinary cases to suit his interest," it reads in part.
Adding: "Oluga worked singlehandedly excluding others hence the systemic failures of the health sector in Nairobi" The health workers say that based on these grounds, Dr Oluga does not deserve to be considered for any position in the county government. We emphasised a shared feeling on the ground that, since Dr Oluga was appointed in March 2020, the state of affairs at NMS went on a downward spiral thanks to skewed management largely made up of family members and friends from his native community.
This includes an unqualified HR Manager who is notorious for tormenting health workers with blessings from his boss who cares less about their welfare.
Dr Oluga ruled with an iron fist and was not afraid of exerting his power on helpless employees.
His tenure painted a clear picture of betrayal and deceit from the former union boss, who oppressed the same people he once proudly defended. Bearing in mind that no promotions have been made in many years and some employees have moved up only one grade in about 20 years.
At one point, he launched a full crack-down on staffers criticizing him on social media, including in Whatsapp groups.
