Arab-owned luxury coach company “Modern Coast” which is notorious for mistreatment of employees, is once again on the receiving end of criticism for failing to timely pay wages.
For the last three months, the company has reportedly not sent them a single sent to compensate for their hard work.
Drivers are now suffering in silence as the delayed salaries have left most unable to cater to the basic needs of their families.
Much worse, the rogue management has issued no proper communication regarding the matter or put any remedies in place to ease their financial burden.
They threaten to fire anyone who dares to seek an audience regarding the matter.
Speaking to this blog on Wednesday, 15 June, the wife of one of the affected staffers confessed the arduous struggle is taking a serious toll on her husband, whom she fears is contemplating suicide as an escape from the harsh reality. “Hi Nyakundi, Aki Modern Coast wafanyikazi wanaumia. Kuona mwanaume akilia juu ya kuteswa na pesa amefanyia kazi si mchezo. Tuko na rent arrears ya three months na watoi wako kwa nyumba juu ya school fees. Hubby anasema amechoka na maisha am worried anaweza jitoa uhai. Please hide my ID,” the source writes.
Back in November 2019, we highlighted how the company hires and fires staff at will and in total disregard the Kenya Labour laws.
This has made it a high-staff turnover company because most Kenyans are woke and cannot tolerate such mistreatment in the 21st Century.
From arbitrary dismissals, harassment, employing undocumented immigrants, constant salary delays, getting abused like slaves and harassing Kenyans using hired police officers.
Our source informed us that Modern Coast management has a police officer by the name Wambua from the Industrial Area police station, whom they often used to harass workers.
Twaha and Malik are fond of issuing threats and hurling expletives at staff.

Incidences of opening and looting from parcels are also the order of the day at the bus company.
The parcels have a bigger turnaround time because most staff are underpaid and help themselves to some clients’ goods.
