Among his activities for that day was presiding over the official opening of Mwiki Hospital in Kasarani Constituency.
It was part of 28 such health facilities constructed by Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS) across the city in under 2 years.
Two months after the ceremonial splendor, the hospital is now as empty and quiet as a ghost town.
Sources say that ever since the day Uhuru launched the facility, there have hardly been any operations.
Speaking out via social media, a resident alleges that all medical equipment that was present on the day of the opening was packed and carried away the next day.
As things stand, the laboratory and wards are closed down.
Only the triage is operational.
To make matters worse, there are no drugs.
Patients only receive a prescription and are directed to go purchase drugs elsewhere. "Mwiki Level 3 Hospital ilijazwa vitu and medicine and Uhuru came to open it. Next day, everything was packed and taken away. Beds, wheelchairs ? Wallahi. Sai only the triage is working. Unaangaliwa unaandikiwa Dawa you go buy nje. Haha, lab is closed down. Wards are closed down," the resident lamented on Twitter. The Mwiki Level 3 facility was part of sustained efforts to attain the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) target of the government's Big 4 development agenda.
