CAPTION: MARIA ATWOLI - Daughter to COTU Sec General Francis Atwoli The Kenyan Twitter space roared into life late on Monday night after Maria Atwoli, daughter of vocal Trade Unionist and political lobbyist Francis Atwoli, was involved in a heated social media spat with one of her thousands of followers.
It all began when Ms Atwoli sent out a post complaining of how listening to some things leaves one with the feeling of a reduced intelligence quotient (IQ).
Her tweet was in regards to some R-Rated discussions which had dominated the platform on the night. "Kuna vitu uskiskiza they reduce your IQ, Anyway Goodnight," she wrote.
In response, one sneaky netizen took the opportunity to take a jab at Maria's dad Atwoli through a witty rejoinder.
Mwetich, as he identifies himself on Twitter, explained to Maria that it is the exact same feeling millions of Kenyans experience every time her father Francis Atwoli opens up his mouth to speak. "Kama babako akiongea," he wrote in the reply that quickly went viral.
In what somewhat proved that Maria borrowed her father's no-nonsense attitude and low tolerance to banter, she immediately retorted to the bully by directly belittling his father. "Wewe Nani Anaskiza Baba Yako" she asked, before adding "Angekua na pesa pengine tungekuwa pia tunamskiza," to finish the comeback in a follow-up post that left netizens cracked up. When Maria first broke into the limelight last year, the fresh graduate stated that she should not be confused for a politician or trade unionist and that she has "a low tolerance for fools".
Her Twitter account had blown up overnight after her father shared her handle in a congratulatory message he posted on her graduation day.
Ms Atwoli graduated from law school in October 2020 and her father went on to throw her a lavish party to mark the occasion.
While sharing photos from the event, Mr Atwoli ended up opening a pandora's box into his daughter's social media life.
Ever since then, her numbers have kept on growing.
